For generations, the Tobique First Nation, one of the largest Wolastoqiyik communities in Canada, has endured the deep scars of colonization, residential schools, and systemic neglect. Families were torn apart, languages suppressed, and cultural practices nearly erased. Yet despite these hardships, Tobique continues to rise.
Today, they are reclaiming their traditions, healing from intergenerational trauma, and building a future rooted in cultural pride and education. From youth programs and language revitalization to community-led recovery services, Tobique is charting a new path.
